About Elizabeth
After years of ballet, tap, jazz, and even Scottish Highland Dance, Elizabeth earned a Bachelors Degree in Dance at UCLA, the first university in the country to teach Modern Dance. Elizabeth danced in local operas and musicals. Professionally she performed Samba with local Brazilian bands, worked with modern dance choreographers, and co-produced modern dance concerts to showcase her own choreography. Elizabeth also worked with a women’s full force self-defense group where she learned physical self-defense and crisis intervention. Elizabeth's innate patience and ability to help students reduce anxiety while in class and the skills above make her uniquely qualified to work with students with behavior issues. In 2013, Elizabeth decided to start a new career when she discovered Autism Movement Therapy® created by Joanne Lara, MA. After meeting Ms. Lara and observing her class in Van Nuys, CA, Elizabeth became a Certified Provider. In June 2020, Joanne Lara, MA, passed away and all those who knew her mourn her very much. You can learn more about Joanne Lara at Autism Movement Therapy. A Dance Class For Me!© is not your typical dance class. All children with or without special needs are welcome to the class.
