A Dance Class For Me!
NOT YOUR TYPICAL DANCE CLASS Connecting the brain and body through dance and rhythm. This program is led by Elizabeth Rose Chacon for all students, "neurotypical" students, students who are on the Autism Spectrum, or students who have special needs that prevent them from participating in "typical" dance classes. If you want a dance class for your child or yourself, please contact Elizabeth. Each student works at his or her own pace. As the weeks go on, every attempt to dance or mimic movement is celebrated. Body awareness improves and anxiety goes away after the student's ability to copy and dance with friends improves. In A Dance Class For Me! some behaviors are not considered maladaptive and are not corrected. Those behaviors are talking, yelling, flapping, spinning, running, jumping, anything a student does to help his or her brain calm itself. Maladaptive behaviors that are addressed and stopped are hitting other students, the instructor, the wall, or the mirror. If you have questions regarding your student's behavior, please feel free to ask Elizabeth Chacon what can be done for the benefit of your student. If you are in Orange County and have tried other activities without success because other instructors may be too impatient to work with your child, please don't give up. Elizabeth has been teaching tap and ballet for decades, if you want a tap or ballet class just let her know. Specialty classes like Comedy Improvisation, Brazilian Samba, Ballet and Tap Dance are also available on request. Elizabeth Rose Chacon is ready to help, interpret, and dance with your child. |
