A Dance Class For Me!
NOT YOUR TYPICAL DANCE CLASS Connecting the brain and body through dance and rhythm. This program is led by Elizabeth Rose Chacon for students who are on the moderate to severe side of the Autism Spectrum or have Special Needs that prevent them from participating in "typical" dance classes. As the weeks go on, every attempt to dance or mimic movement is celebrated. Anxious behavior goes away after the student's ability to copy and dance with friends improves. In A Dance Class For Me! some behaviors are not considered maladaptive and are not corrected. Those behaviors are talking, yelling, flapping, spinning, running, jumping, anything a student does to help his or her brain calm itself. Maladaptive behaviors that are addressed and stopped are hitting other students, the instructor, the wall, or the mirror. If you have questions regarding your student's behavior, please feel free to ask Elizabeth Chacon what can be done for the benefit of your student. Elizabeth is also a Board Certified Autism Technician (BCAT), if you have ABA goals in your child/student's ABA or IEP plan, Elizabeth can help. Or if your ABA or BCBA is looking for an activity before joining a social skills class, refer him or her to Elizabeth. If you are in Orange County and have tried other activities without success because other instructors, even in special needs activities, may be too impatient to work with your child, please don't give up. Elizabeth has been teaching tap and ballet for decades, if you want a tap or ballet class just let her know. Specialty classes like Comedy Improvisation, Brazilian Samba, Ballet and Tap Dance are also available on request. Elizabeth Rose Chacon is ready to help, interpret, and dance with your child. |
